To co-finance the integral and free rehabilitation of children who have suffered burn injuries, the “Reciclar para ayudar” (“Recycle to Help”) program of the Burned Children’s Aid Association (Aniquem), together with Pesquera Hayduk and with a collective system authorized by the Ministry of the Environment, collected nearly 7,000 kilos of recyclable material. The proceeds from the sale of disused WEEE were used to provide physical therapy for one year to three burns survivors. Thus, with the collection of this material, a double impact was achieved: to provide comprehensive rehabilitation to children who survived burns and to promote care for the environment.

“We are very pleased to have been part of this initiative, reaffirming our commitment to the sustainable approach of our operations. We will continue to focus on the management of our recyclable waste to generate a positive impact on the environment and society,” said José Arriola, Hayduk’s General Manager. Victor Raúl Rodríguez Vilca, president of Aniquem, thanked the company for its contribution to the fishing sector and invited more organizations to join as allies in this type of initiative. “We have been providing comprehensive rehabilitation to burn survivors living in poverty and extreme poverty for 23 years. With our recycling program, we also contribute to sustainability, and we are prepared for new challenges in the program,” concluded the head of Aniquem.

Aniquem offers its patients rehabilitation services, including physical therapies to prevent disability and restore mobility function. In addition, it provides psychological therapies with emotional support, both to patients and their families, and occupational therapies to stimulate psychomotor activities and social reintegration of patients.
